Day 01: PHNOM PENH ARRIVAL

  • Welcome to the Kingdom of Wonder!
  • Upon arrival, you will meet our tour guide and driver transfer to check in hotel store luggages. Today visitors find a bustling, multicultural city at the confluence of the historic Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac Rivers. Phnom Penh has many places of exceptional interest for those with time enough to appreciate the city's attractions.
  • This afternoon, we embark on our first discovery of the capital onboard a cyclo. First, we will ride along the river side to explore daily life of local and heading to Wat Phnom, a 15th century stupa. Wat Phnom, a small hill crowned by an active wat (pagoda) marks the legend of Phnom Penh City. Wat Phnom: the only one hill in Phnom Penh and historical of Lady Penh, and Phnom Penh City. Embark in boat cruise on Mekong river for 01 hour night life sightseeing.

Day 02: PHNOM PENH – CITY TOUR (B)

  • After breakfast at hotel, we will explore the main sights including the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda facing the Mekong River, and its adjoining Silver Pagoda built in 1962 famous for its lavish decorations of silver paved floor and several Buddha statues made from precious metals & stones. National Museumis the museum we gather and keep the statue since Angkorian period. National Museum: also called Musee des Beaux-Arts.
  • In the afternoon, we discover the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum a formed Tuol Svay Prey High School, it become the prison during Pol Pot Regime (1975-1979), now it is museum that keeping the record of victim, skull, cloth…etc. Next proceed to The Toul Tom Pong Market (Russian Market) is the city’s best place to shop for art objects, including textiles, antiques, wood and marble carvings, various ritual objects and old Indochinese coins. Our last stop is heading to a local pagoda to hear a brief introduction on the different concepts of Buddhism.

Day 03: PHNOM PENH – UDONG MOUNTAIN (B)

  • After breakfast, we drive about an hour west of Phnom Penh we will reach the hills of the abandoned Royal City Oudong or Phnom Preah Reach Troup (Hill of the Royal Fortune). After arrival, we climb up the mountain to view an excellent countryside view. There are many stupas of the ancient king on the top of the mountain, one of the new stupas contain eyebrow hairs and a piece of bone from Buddha himself.

Day 04: PHNOM PENH – SAMBOR PREI KOK – SIEM REAP (B)

  • After breakfast at hotel, we continue our journey to Siem Reap (approx. 6 hour drive on 314 Km). We stop mid way in Kampong Thom to discover the temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk; this complex features 3 pre-Angkorian temples dedicated to Shiva. It was built in the 7th century, abandoned, rediscovered and restored in 1980. Here, our guide introduces us to Hinduism; hinduism has strongly influenced pre-Angkorian and Angkorian civilizations; its impact and artistic testimony is worth focusing on. Buddhist & Hindu influences on pre Angkorian and Angkorian arts. Late afternoon, we driver further to Siem Reap, hotel check in and relax at your own activities.
  • Overnight in Siem Reap 

Day 05: SIEM REAP – ANGKOR WAT (B)

  • Spend the entire day exploring the awesome temples, beginning with an early morning visit for sunrise and an exploration of the masterpiece, Angkor Wat. We commence at the South Gate of Angkor Thom City. Here we explore the centerpiece of the ancient city, The Bayon. The Bayon contains 54 towers decorated with more than 200 enigmatic smiling faces. Also included in the morning tour is the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of Elephants and Terrace of Leper Kings, as well as The Ta Prohm Temple. 
  • We enjoy lunch (own account) before embarking on our discovery of Angkor Wat, easily the most famous and best-preserved of all temples within the Angkor complex. It is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from ground level. Angkor Wat is the centerpiece of any visit to the temples of Angkor.
  • Overnight in Siem Reap 

Day 06: BUDDHISM COURSE WITH SIGNTSEEING (B)

  • After breakfast, you will participate in another course on Buddhism with a local Buddhist leader accompanied which will focus on the life of Buddha, history of Buddhism and different Buddhist schools in Southeast Asia. Then we head to the exquisite Banteay Srey (“Citadel of the women”). The temple displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art. The visit is combined with the discovery of Banteay Samre. 
  • This afternoon, we will set out for a cruise on beautiful Tonle Sap Lake, passing a floating village and seeing the daily life of local people there. Floating village at Tonle Sap Lake (The Great Lake): place where people is living on the lake, have school, market, and the child sale fruit along the lake.
  • Overnight in Siem Reap 

Day 07: SIEM REAP – BENG MEALEA TEMPLE (B)

  • After breakfast at hotel, visit Beng Mealea:  is a spectacular jungle temple around 60 Kms drive to the north east of Siem Reap. It is one of the "new "highlights of Cambodia; having only been cleared of mines at the end of 2003.  Built by Jayarvaman VII; in the style of Angkor Wat; its scale is huge; being well over one square Kilometer within its moat. Approached by a four causeways; Beng Mealea appears to be a huge pile of rubble partially hidden in the trees. Once you get closer the high walls, the ancient Khmer Architecture reveals itself. Cloaked in vegetation and with few concessions to tourism; this temple looks like it would have done when the early French explorers found it. On the way back, take time to visit local Orphanages Centre nearby and please arrange some donation.
  • Overnight in Siem Reap 

Day 08: TRIP CONCLUDES (B)

  • Enjoy your final day in Cambodia by exploring Siem Reap on your own. Bargain for silk scarves or shadow puppets at Psar Chas, the Old Market, or relax into a wicker chair in a sidewalk café. We will transfer you to the airport for your flight back home, wishing you bon voyage and hoping that you enjoyed your journey with KTR Travel!
